Scalea was and actually is one of the most important places of the High Thyrrenian district. Its historical centre, where the San Matteo Palace Hotel is, it's the corner that could call best the cultural interests to anyone willing to know more about this small city.

Scalea is not else than a marvelous Medieval place. It's built through stairways, alleys, arches all in pure stone.

The village is never out of human scale, it can be visited and is deeply romantic in its architectural expression and, above all, it is just a few steps far from the sea. This have a fantastic blue, yet the expression of a "happy island";

the sea that Scalea owns, thanks to the exemplary management of our Politics, is not polluted, pure water is not covered by the dirt of city life.

To visit Scalea, while you decide to spend a vacation, or simply choose to visit throughout the year, offers a unique opportunity in life to be in contact with the history and the nature.

Nothing in Scalean architecture clashes with the context: even the old houses are made of stone, there is moss between the bricks, and above all, the old country meets the rocky ridge on which it rests: it extends in height .

Scalea was inhabited by noble families such as those of Romanos and Pallamollas, belonging to the historical Angevin and Aragonese's periods.
And is here, in this context, that the Galiano family was born and raised.

Matteo Galiano, owner of this ancient building of the Old Town, has left us three children, Elia, Elio and Franco, the moral task of caring responsibly for our modest "stocks".
